the route of the BroadwayLION
Once upon a time, perhaps seventy years ago I asked my parents for a train for Christmas. I was a little embarrassed about this for I envisioned a wooden train that I could pull around with a string. What appeared there was an American Flyer train running around the tree. I was taken aback. This thing had a steam engine: steam engines did not run in our neighborhood. This thing had freight cars, I had envisioned passenger cars. All it did was run around in circles. At least a wooden train could go anywhere I imaged. It could to at Sofacity or Coffetable Junction. Circles without passengers. All I ever saw down by the tracks were electric passenger trains powered by a third rail.
